Use the pink Smart Ticketing validators and gates wrapped in The Connecting Thread artwork (at gated stations).

Smart Ticketing customer trials

What is a customer trial?

Smart Ticketing customer trials are an important part of our rollout plan. Our customer trials allow us (and you) to try out new ways to pay. We will notify you when there is a trial available for your travel.

For more information, check out our Smart Ticketing trial FAQs.

How do I participate?

All you need is a Visa, Mastercard or American Express, contactless-enabled card or device to use on our new ticketing equipment. Sign up to our newsletter so we can let you know when you can tap in.

Tap in to Smart Ticketing

What is the benefit of Smart Ticketing?

Smart Ticketing lets you pay your own way for public transport. Many of us are now used to tapping to pay for our daily coffee and groceries, and you'll be able to tap on and off to pay for your travel.

Smart Ticketing makes paying for your travel convenient, easy, and safe.

How safe is Smart Ticketing?

Smart Ticketing prioritises safety and security, especially when it comes to personal data and payment information. Between Translink and banking partners, there are multiple layers of security to keep your details safe.

Just like any other transaction with contactless payment technology, your transactions are safe, secure and touch free.

Where is Smart Ticketing currently available?

Right now, customers can tap in to Smart Ticketing on the Gold Coast's G:link. We're progressively testing, trialling and rolling out Smart Ticketing across South East Queensland and 18 regional urban bus centres.

Shhh... Smart Ticketing is coming to heavy rail soon!

Smart Ticketing is coming soon to our heavy rail network. You'll be invited to participate in Smart Ticketing trials so we can test new ways to pay and make improvements as we go.
