Queensland

More than 25,000 new customers can now use Smart Ticketing to pay for their journey with new ways to pay going live on six South East Queensland bus operators in less than three months, including Kangaroo Bus Lines on 12 November.

Translink is now almost halfway through the rollout on the 13 SEQ bus operators, with Hornibrook Bus Lines, Thompson Bus Services, Brisbane Bus Lines and Kangaroo Bus Lines now offering customers the ability to use their Visa, Mastercard or American Express debit or credit card, including cards in the digital wallet of smart devices. This follows Smart Ticketing trials commencing on Caboolture Bus Lines in August, and Kinetic Sunshine Coast in September.

Customers have also been quick to adopt Smart Ticketing on buses, with more than 100,000 trips being completed since the launch on Caboolture Bus Lines.

Despite no longer needing a go card to transfer between a SEQ train and participating bus operators, customers must continue to tap on at the start of their journey and tap off at the end of each trip. If customers are transferring to a remaining bus operator that is not yet participating in the Smart Ticketing trial, they will need to continue to use their go card at this time.

Smart Ticketing trials are being progressively activated on the remaining seven bus and ferry operators in the coming months and you can stay up to date as the rollout continues.
