We offer several paper ticket options for the Mackay bus network.
- Single: a one-way ticket which includes 2-hour transfer time.
- Daily: unlimited travel within the zones purchased until the last service on any one day.
- Weekly: unlimited travel within the zones purchased for 7 days from the issue date.
Paper tickets can be purchased onboard a Mackay bus service using cash.

To calculate your fare, look at all the zones you travel in during your journey. Subtract the lowest zone from the highest zone and add 1. This will determine the number of zones you will be charged for.
Fare example
- If you are travelling between Shoal Point (zone 3) and South Mackay (zone 1), you would pay a 3-zone fare, (3-1)+1 = 3 zones.
