From Friday 3 until Sunday 26 April, there will be major track closures and travel changes for works to improve your rail network. 

Some journeys may take significantly longer than usual. 

Please consider your travel options, plan ahead and allow extra travel time. 

Changes for each line will vary and your best travel option may change throughout April. See below for impacts.

Most lines will be impacted.

Buses will replace trains between:

  • Gympie North and Caboolture stations
  • Northgate, Eagle Junction and Bowen Hills stations
  • Banoon and Boggo Road stations. 

There will also be some timetable changes.  

Tuesday 7 and Friday 10 April

All lines will have timetable changes. 

Buses will replace trains between:

  • Gympie North and Caboolture stations
  • Northgate and Bowen Hills stations
  • Banoon and Boggo Road stations. 
Saturday 11 April

Buses will replace trains between:

  • Gympie North and Caboolture stations
  • Northgate and Bowen Hills stations
  • Varsity Lakes and Boggo Road stations. 
Sunday 12 AprilBuses will replace trains between Varsity Lakes and Boggo Road stations. 
Monday 13 to Friday 17 April

Buses will replace trains between Varsity Lakes and Boggo Road stations.

Doomben line trains will run between Doomben and Eagle Junction. 

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 AprilBuses will replace trains between Varsity Lakes and Boggo Road stations.
Monday 20 to Friday 24 April

Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines will run as a combined service between Varsity Lakes and Banoon stations. 

  • No trains will run between Banoon and Boggo Road stations. 

Doomben line trains will run between Doomben and Eagle Junction.

Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April

Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines will run as a combined service between Varsity Lakes and Banoon stations. 

  • No trains will run between Banoon and Boggo Road stations.

What works are happening?

These project works are essential to upgrade South East Queensland's rail network as it undergoes a once-in-a-generation transformation to support our growing population. 

The scale and complexity of these works requires a longer closure period to keep workers safe and complete as much work as possible.
