Riverfire is one of the biggest nights of the year on our network.
It will be busy, so please consider planning your travel to and from the event before leaving home.
Getting there
When heading to Riverfire, our normal fares and travel conditions apply. You must have a valid go card, debit card, or paper ticket to travel.
Extra bus services will be available in the afternoon to help you get to Riverfire on time. These extra services will operate as detailed below and may not show up in journey planner or on real-time (except 555 and RF5 shuttle).

CityCat services are very popular during Riverfire. If you are planning to travel via ferry, please travel early to allow for any delays.

Last ferries to Riverfire
From 5:30pm CityCat services will be running their last service before the river closure.
Please see below the departure times for the last ferries to South Bank before the fireworks:
- Northshore Hamilton terminal - 5:45pm
- UQ St Lucia terminal - 6:15pm
- Sydney Street terminal - 5:39pm
- North Quay terminal - 5:57pm
QUT Gardens Point ferry terminal
Due to its location near the firework barges, QUT terminal will be closed from 4pm until last service.
A special Riverfire shuttle (RF5) will run from Loganholme to South Bank before the fireworks.
The shuttle will stop at:
- Loganholme station
- Slacks Creek park 'n' ride
- Springwood station
- Rochedale station
- South Bank station
- Cultural Centre station.
Shuttles run every 30-minutes from 3:05pm until 5:35pm. You can find the timetable for RF5 in journey planner.
Getting home
Immediately following the fireworks, there will be plenty of extra services running plus free bus and train travel to get you where you need to go.
During Riverfire, extra bus services will be running from Cultural Centre, South Bank and inner-city bus stations to help get you home in the evening. These extra services will operate as detailed below and will not show up in journey planner or on real-time (except 555 and RF5 shuttle).

Trains will run approximately every 15 minutes between 7:35pm and 9:05pm on all lines, except for Doomben, Sunshine Coast, Rosewood and Airport.

You can travel home from Riverfire for free onboard bus and train services.
Free travel:
- begins straight after the fireworks - from 7:30pm until 9:30pm.
- is only available from bus and train stations surrounding South Bank and the City - see map below.
- is not available on CityCat or Airtrain services. Normal fares apply on these services.
