Logan public transport customers now have full access to Smart Ticketing on all local buses and trains, enabling customers to pay using their credit card, debit card, smartphone, or smart watch.
Clarks Logan City Bus Services (Clarks) is the latest bus operator to activate Smart Ticketing, offering a greater choice of payment methods for their customers.
With trains already using Smart Ticketing, there are now seamless connections between Logan buses and Queensland Rail services when using the new ways to pay.
The Smart Ticketing roll out across South East Queensland is nearing completion with the additional payment methods already available across the SEQ train network, Gold Coast Light Rail, ferries and 90 per cent of bus operators. The final two bus operators, Kinetic Gold Coast and Transport for Brisbane are on track to be activated in the next few months.
As bus operators continue to have Smart Ticketing activated, Logan joins Redlands, Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast and Ipswich as SEQ regions with full Smart Ticketing availability.
Customers are embracing Smart Ticketing with more than 25 per cent of customers on enabled services now using the technology. This is expected to increase as the SEQ public transport network nears full coverage.
Of the 25 million trips taken using the technology since the roll out began in late 2020, more than 1.4 million were taken within the last month.
Head of Translink Dr Deborah Hume said it is exciting to add another region to the growing list of locations where all public transport services now have the technology activated.
"The expansion of the trial onto Clarks Logan City Bus Service makes public transport more accessible to customers in Logan, who are already enjoying 50 cent fares, and now have more options on how to pay,” Dr Hume said.
“We welcome Clarks Logan City Bus Service to the Smart Ticketing trial and thank them for working so closely with us to make Smart Ticketing available to their many customers.”
