From Tuesday 28 January, route 86 (South Brisbane Bus Loop) will no longer run. 

The trial service was introduced by Brisbane City Council to improve connectivity in South Brisbane during construction of the Brisbane Metro. As construction works are nearing completion, the service will be removed.

The last trip on route 86 will be at 9pm on Monday 27 January. 

Alternative travel options

There are several alternative bus services you can consider, including: 

  • 60 (Blue CityGlider) – running at high frequency to West End and Tenneriffe via Brisbane City and Fortitude Valley
  • 196 (New Farm to Fairfield) – running every 15 minutes or better between Fairfield Gardens Shopping Centre and New Farm, traveling via Highgate Hill, Dutton Park, Brisbane City and Fortitude Valley 
  • 199 (Teneriffe to West End) – running every 15 minutes or better during the day, travelling between Teneriffe and West End via Brisbane City and Fortitude Valley.

Stop closure

Following the removal of route 86 buses, the bus stop on Grey Street at South Brisbane Station (Stop ID 001002) will permanently close. You can catch alternate bus services from nearby stops at the Cultural Centre (Stop ID 010866).
