Now that your extended tram network is running, there'll be changes for some local bus services from Monday 7 September.
Bus changes
Services that duplicate the tram line will be shortened or combined, which may mean you need to transfer between services to complete your journey.
This means there’ll be changes for routes 700, 754, 760, 764, 765 and 777.
Savings from these changes are being reinvested to provide better public transport for the southern Gold Coast including:
- new route 701 which will be introduced between Elanora and Robina
- route 70 (formerly late night route 700) which will be introduced as the new overnight tram replacement service.

Route 70
Route 70 (formerly late night route 700) is the new overnight tram replacement service.
It’ll operate between Burleigh Heads and Helensvale stations every 30 minutes between midnight and 4am, Monday to Thursday.
Route 700
Route 700 will run between Tweed Heads and Stockland Burleigh Heads only. It'll no longer travel north to Broadbeach South, as this connection will be provided by the new tram extension.
If you're travelling beyond Stockland Burleigh Heads, you'll need to transfer between bus and tram services. Transfers are expected to be convenient, with both services operating frequently.
The service will continue to run every 10 minutes, but will follow a set timetable rather than arriving at approximate intervals.
Two new bus stops will be added on West Burleigh Road to improve local access:
- A new stop south of Dunlin Drive will become the starting point for services travelling towards Tweed Heads via Burleigh Heads. Until construction is complete, buses will use the existing stop on West Burleigh Road at Dunlin Drive.
- A new stop between Stephens Street and Starling Street will be added to pair with the existing stop on West Burleigh Road, near Stanley Street.
Route 701 (new)
Route 701 is a new bus service that’ll travel between The Pines, Eleanora and Robina station via Varsity Lakes station.
Buses will run every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm, and every 30 minutes outside of these times, seven days a week.
To improve local access, there'll be new stops at:
- Reedy Creek Road, at Bermuda Street (Treetops Shopping Centre)
- Station Parade at Varsity Lakes station
Route 754 and 764
Route 754 will extend further south to cover part of current route 764 alignment up to the Pines.
Route 764 will run as a short local loop between The Pines and Currumbin Park.
Route 760
Route 760 will run to an adjusted timetable which reflects quicker travel times, due to the completion of roadworks in the area.
Route 765
Route 765 will run between Christine Avenue and Robina stations only, to avoid duplicating the new tram services. It won’t continue south toward Burleigh Heads.
Route 777
Route 777 will run as a limited-stop express service between Gold Coast Airport and Stockland Burleigh Heads only. It’ll no longer travel further north towards Broadbeach South station.
Buses travelling toward Tweed Heads will start from a new stop being built south of Dunlin Drive. Until this stop is completed, buses will initially use the existing stop at West Burleigh Road, at Dunlin Drive.
New tram stations
Your new tram network includes eight new stations making it easier to get around the coast:
- Mermaid Beach
- Mermaid Beach South
- Nobby Beach
- Miami North
- Miami
- Christine Avenue
- Second Avenue
- Burleigh Heads
Trams are now running between Broadbeach South and Burleigh Heads every 7.5 minutes during peak times and 10 to 30 minutes off-peak.
