Changes to bus services this year
After the fireworks until 9pm, most buses leaving from Brisbane City will be skipping Cultural Centre, South Bank and Mater Hill busway stations. Instead, these stations will be frequently serviced by M1, M2, 555 and shuttle buses to help you connect to your usual route. Find more info further below.
Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust is one of the biggest nights of the year on our network.
There'll be extra services and free travel after the fireworks. Most additional bus services and route changes will not be available in journey planner or real-time, so make sure to plan your journey with the info below.
Getting there
When heading to Riverfire, our normal fares and travel conditions apply. You must have a valid go card, debit card, or paper ticket to travel.
Extra bus services will be available in the afternoon to help you get to Riverfire. These extra services will run as detailed below and may not show up in journey planner or on real-time.

A special Riverfire shuttle (RF5) will run from Loganholme to South Bank before the fireworks.
The shuttle will stop at:
- Loganholme station
- Slacks Creek park 'n' ride
- Springwood station
- Rochedale station
- South Bank station
- Cultural Centre station.
Shuttles run every 30-minutes from 3:05pm until 5:35pm. You can find the timetable for RF5 in journey planner.
Last ferries to Riverfire
Please see below the departure times for the last ferries before the fireworks:

- F24 Maritime Museum to Gardens Point - service will not resume until Sunday 6 September.

Pets will not be allowed from midday to last service as ferries are expected to be much busier.
Ferry terminal closures
Due to their location near the firework barges, QUT and Maritime Museum terminals will be closed from 3pm until last service.
Getting home
Immediately following the fireworks, there will be plenty of extra services plus free bus and train travel to get you where you need to go.
Extra services will be running after the fireworks to 9:30pm and will not show up on journey planner or real-time.
For Southern and Eastern services
After the fireworks until 9:30pm, there will be extra services for routes:
To help you start your journey, there will be high-frequency routes that will service Cultural Centre platform 2, South Bank platform 4 and Mater Hill platform 2.
All other services leaving the City will skip these stations. All services will continue to service their usual stops in the city.

Trains will run approximately every 15 minutes between 7:35pm and 9:05pm on all lines, except for Doomben, Sunshine Coast, Rosewood and Airport.

You can travel home from Riverfire for free onboard bus and train services.
Free travel:
- begins straight after the fireworks - from 7:30pm until 9:30pm.
- is only available at:
- Bus stations: Cultural Centre, King George Square, Mater Hill, Queen Street, Roma Street, South Bank, Woolloongabba, Buranda and Griffith University stations.
- Train stations: South Bank, South Brisbane, Roma Street and Central stations.
- is not available on CityCat or Airtrain services. Normal fares apply on these services.
