TransLink's golden go card giveaway could be the catalyst for the latest winner of the giveaway to holiday on the Gold Coast.

Beachmere resident Sharyn Sims was drawn as the fourth winner of the competition, and said she planned to see more of the glitter strip during her period of free travel.

Each golden go card recipient is entitled to unlimited free travel on all TransLink South East Queensland (SEQ) public transport including buses, trains (excluding long distance trains), trams, ferries and Airtrain for a year.

"You see those tourism discounts… I might look some of those Gold Coast overnight stays since I will be able to catch the train down there for free," Ms Sims said.

"It would be nice to see some more of the Gold Coast because I won't have to worry about driving."

Ms Sims said the free travel would also be handy as a regular train user who commutes to and from work in the Brisbane CBD.

"I didn't believe it," she said of her reaction upon finding out she had been drawn a winner.

"I saw the news that the competition had been extended and thought it might be worth entering.

"It will certainly come in handy travelling into the city three days a week."

Originally set to run only in June, the golden go card giveaway has now been extended for a further two weeks until July 9, meaning there are two more chances to win free travel for a year.

The golden go cards are non-transferrable and will cover the entire SEQ TransLink network. The remaining two winners will be drawn on Monday July 5 and Monday July 12 respectively.
