Although Queensland's public transport patronage has been significantly impacted by effects of COVID-19, some services bucked the trend and actually increased patronage prior to the latest impacts due to Omicron.
Launched in 2019, the Ripley Valley 531 service celebrated its third birthday in late January, with passenger use increasing steadily prior to COVID-19 and rebounding strongly throughout 2020 and 2021. Patronage hit an all-time high in November 2021 with more than 2,500 trips for the month, which is greater than pre-COVID patronage.
Route 531 provides connections in rapidly-growing parts of Ipswich; between Springfield Central station and Orion Shopping Centre to Yamanto, via the Ripley Valley Priority Development Area (PDA).
