Heading to Schoolies this year? We've got your transport sorted with the cheapest fares, late-night trams and connections to all the best venues.
Which ticket do I need?
If you are planning to catch public transport while at Schoolies, you need to have a valid ticket before hopping on board.
We have a number of ticket options to suit your different travel plans:
If you are only planning to catch public transport once or twice during Schoolies (e.g. from the Airport to your hotel), a paper ticket might be your best ticket option.
Paper tickets are a single use, one-way, ticket available for purchase from ticket machines on station platforms (cash and EFTPOS) and onboard buses (cash only).
Paper tickets can be used to transfer between all bus, train, ferry and tram services in South East Queensland.
If you're going to pack heaps of travel in during your Schoolies stay, getting your hands on a go card is your best bet.
The go card is South East Queensland's version of the Opal (NSW) and myki (VIC). Like those tickets, you need to purchase the card and load value onto it before you travel.
To use your card, simply:
- touch on a go card reader at the start of your journey
- touch off a go card reader at the end of your journey.
go Card benefits
- At least 30% cheaper than single paper tickets
- Top-up online or via phone*
- 8 and 50% - After your 8th trip all further fares are 50% off
- Protected balance if lost or stolen*
- Refund of remaining credit*
go cards can be used to travel on all bus, train, ferry and tram services in South East Queensland.
If you're planning to pack a heap of travel into one day (e.g. heading up to the theme parks), a go explore card might be right for you.
The go explore is a pre-paid ticket that works like the go card.
For only $10, you get one day of unlimited travel on board bus and tram services.
You can load or recharge the card for additional days of travel (up to 8 days).
go explore cards can only be used on Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast bus and tram services (not valid on trains or ferries).
Can I get student concession fares?
Concession fares are only available to Queensland school leavers.
If you are visiting from outside of Queensland, you will need to purchase adult; go card, go explore and paper tickets.
