Northern Gold Coasters will soon have more transport options with the trial of pre-booked, flexible on demand transport services.

The trial would be launched by mid-2022 across the areas of Nerang (West)/Highland Park and Pacific Pines.

On demand transport aims to bring together small groups of people looking to travel at the same time, picking them up near their homes and taking them to selected locations within the trial areas.

The selected locations in the Nerang (West)/Highland Park trial area are Nerang station, Nerang town centre, Nerang Fair, My Centre Nerang and Nerang Mall.

In the Pacific Pines trial area locals will be able to travel to and from Helensvale station, Westfield Helensvale and Pacific Pines Town Centre.

On demand transport helps to fill the gap between regular bus services and more personalised services such as those offered by taxis or booked hire services – it's about providing more travel options for the communities in the coverage area.

The on demand transport options will help customers access services like rail and will be game changing for those who rely on public transport to get around.

Communities in Pacific Pines, Nerang and Highland Park will be connected better than ever before to frequent transport, shopping, education, employment and other essential services.

On demand transport customers will be able to transfer to buses, trains and trams using their go card.

Customers will also be able to book services through a range of options including the Translink On Demand app, which will let customers pre-book and manage their bookings easily, track where their service is and receive real-time notifications.

More information on the trial and how it works is available at translink.com.au/ondemand or by calling 13 12 30.
