Customers can now use TransLink's new Service Capacity Tracker to see detailed information about space available on all bus, train, tram and ferry services across the South East Queensland network.
Head of TransLink Matt Longland said the new Tracker will give customers information about passenger load by route, day and time.
"Using actual patronage over the past 28 days, this tool forecasts patronage across the day in 15-minute increments," Mr Longland said.
"This prediction allows customers to understand which services have the most space on board and make informed decisions about their travel.
"The tool shows that shifting your travel by as little as 15 minutes can help with social distancing and allow you to have a more comfortable journey."
Mr Longland said Tracker is the next part of our COVID-safe public transport plan to help customers feel more safe and comfortable using our services, particularly those who have not returned to the network yet.
"We continue to work with our delivery partners to ensure thorough cleaning of all public transport fleets and vehicles, including the sanitisation of touch points such as buttons and handrails," he said.
"This is in addition to other initiatives such as hand sanitiser at major busway stations and all SEQ train stations, rear-door boarding on buses where practical, the seats immediately behind drivers being roped off and cashless ticketing on SEQ services.
"We also want to remind customers to be courteous and respectful and that everyone has a role to play in remaining COVID-safe when travelling together.
"We ask all our customers to follow three simple guidelines: ‘leave a gap’ between others on board and at stop, ‘adjust your travel’ where possible for a more comfortable journey and ‘keep it clean’, by practising good hygiene, and carry a mask with you and wear it if it is not possible to social distance."
