Brisbane is the focus of world sport this week and TransLink is ensuring spectators are given an easy ride to being part of the action.

The Gabba will play host to the Ashes First Test from today (Thursday 23 November) until Monday 27 November.

In the middle of the cricketing summer getting off the mark, Suncorp Stadium will also host a World Cup semi-final on Friday 24 November.

TransLink is ensuring spectators won’t be left on the back foot for public transport options with shuttle buses running to and from the grounds and free public transport for ticket holders.

“The Ashes Test is a major sporting event and there is always a lot of excitement when England and the Barmy Army comes to town,” Head of TransLink Matthew Longland said.

“Throw another world class event like the Rugby League World Cup into the mix and it’s a pretty exciting time for the city.

“There are quite a few overseas visitors in Brisbane and we want to make sure getting to and from the grounds is as easy as possible, so we have added shuttle services to ensure that is the case.”

For the first four days of the Ashes Test, shuttle services will run from the city, Chermside Bus Interchange, Carindale Bus Interchange and Eight Mile Plains Station.

The shuttle services will run to the event daily from 8am until 10am from the City and until 9.40am at the other sites.

Shuttle services will return spectators to each of the four sites for one hour after stumps on each of the first four days.

On the fifth day of the Test, shuttle buses will run from 8am to 10am from the city and return to the city for one hour after the completion of play.

For the Rugby League World Cup semi-final, shuttle buses will run from the city from 5.05pm to 7.05pm and from Carindale, Eight Mile Plains and Chermside from 5.05-6.45pm.

They will return to each point for one hour after full-time.

So don’t be left in the corridor of uncertainty or drop the ball with your travel plans. Get on the front foot and take advantage of public transport.
