Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines
Redcliffe Peninsula line trains will share the existing rail line with Caboolture and Sunshine Coast services from Petrie to Brisbane Central stations.
Your new Caboolture and Sunshine Coast timetables will deliver:
- express services all day, every day, in both directions
- simplified stopping patterns
- reduce travel times by up to 13 minutes
- two extra inbound, off-peak services from the Sunshine Coast each weekday
- replace Nambour to Caboolture shuttle trains with full Nambour to Brisbane Central services.
Changes at Nundah, Toombul, Wooloowin and Albion stations
Caboolture and Sunshine Coast services will run express all day between Petrie and Bowen Hills, stopping only at Northgate and Eagle Junction stations, significantly reducing travel times by up to 13 minutes for outer urban commuters.
Redcliffe Peninsula Line trains will also run express between Northgate and Bowen Hills, stopping only at Eagle Junction station to provide a reduced journey time for commuters.
These changes mean there will be a slight service decrease at Nundah, Toombul, Wooloowin and Albion stations.
Peak service frequency
To maintain high service frequency for customers at these stations, 17 extra daily peak services will run between Northgate and Roma Street stations, with an extra nine in the morning peak and eight in the afternoon peak.
These additional Northgate to Roma Street services will mean frequency during peak times will remain as high as every six minutes or better at Albion and Wooloowin stations and every 7.5 minutes at Nundah and Toombul stations.
Albion and Wooloowin stations will also continue to be serviced by Shorncliffe, Airport and Doomben line trains and will still be among the most frequently serviced stations in peak times on the Citytrain network.
Nundah and Toombul stations will also continue to be serviced by Shorncliffe line trains and will still have more peak services than three quarters of the train network. Service levels at these stations will be comparable to other stations the same distance from the CBD, such as Cannon Hill, Corinda and Mitchelton.
Off-peak service frequency
There are currently some service gaps of up to 23 minutes in off-peak services at these stations. By introducing the extra services between Northgate and Roma Street stations, trains will consistently run every 15 minutes in off-peak and on weekends.
Customer loading
Customers at Nundah, Toombul, Wooloowin and Albion stations will have a better chance of getting a seat in peak hours if boarding a Northgate to Roma Street service, departing every 15 minutes in core peak times (7.30am-8.30am and 4.30pm-5.30pm). Services from these stations will also run every half hour or better for the remainder of the day.
Your local bus network has also changed to provide an integrated network for the region.
