Students at UQ Lakes station

From Monday 19 August we'll be making some changes to bus services in the Centenary and Western Suburbs region

These changes will improve average travel times, provide additional CBD bus stop locations (on selected services), and update timetables to better reflect road conditions.

Additionally, we're making the Centenary bus network simpler to catch by merging duplicated routes, increasing the number of trips to the CBD, and providing more evenly spaced timetables.

These changes are in response to customer feedback and support the findings of community research conducted by Brisbane City Council last year.

Key changes

There are currently 5 similar peak-hour rockets routes servicing the Centenary region, with only minor differences between them.

To simplify the network, we will be merging some routes to reduce duplication.

Merged routes

  • P457 and P459 will be merged into P455
  • P458 will be merged into P456

P455 and P456 will have additional trips and travel via the Legacy Way toll road which offers faster average travel times to and from the CBD.

The above changes to rocket services will see more trips using the Legacy Way toll road and the Northern busway.

By using Legacy Way and parts of the busway, buses can get in and out of the city faster. This is done by avoiding congestion along Milton Road and Coronation Drive.

This change will see a reduction in average travel times for Centenary customers.

For early birds, there will be additional morning services.

There will be minor timetable adjustments to most routes to better reflect traffic conditions.

We have also moved some trips around to even out the wait times between services.

Please replan your travel to find your new departure times.

Route 460

All morning peak hour services will now stop at Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre.

The Dandenong Road at Centenary Shopping Centre, Mount Ommaney stop will no longer be serviced by any 460 services.

CBD stops

Routes P455 and P456 will no longer service Queen Street bus station, instead they will stop at:

Spring Hill

If you use 'The Ridge' or Wharf Street stops in Spring Hill, you will need to transfer in the CBD to complete your journey.

Please replan your journey to find the best travel option from Monday 19 August.

Toowong bus depot

If you normally catch your service from the Mt Coot-tha St at Toowong Cemetary stop to the CBD, you will need to catch a route 470 service from Monday 19 August.

What do I need to do?

The Centenary and Western Suburb service change starts on Monday 19 August.

You will need to replan your travel for this date to find your best travel option.
