Looking for the Brisbane City Council bus network review?
Brisbane City Council has undertaken a review of the Brisbane Transport bus network and provided their recommendations for public comment until 20 May 2013.
Visit the Brisbane City Council bus network review page to view a list of the proposed changes and provide your feedback to Council.
In July 2012, the Minister for Transport and Main Roads announced a review of TransLink's South East Queensland bus network to improve service frequency, reliability and affordability.
Since then we've analysed data about every bus route in South East Queensland, worked with our delivery partners to understand what's happening on the ground, reviewed the main transport corridors in Greater Brisbane and involved passengers through two stages of passenger participation.
Report available here
All of this work has now been documented in the project report - The SEQ Bus Network Review.
The report covers the analysis undertaken of local routes, benchmarking of our network against others in Australia and overseas, and recommendations for improving the networks, described in regional chapters and specifically for each route.
You can download the full report here:

You can also use the search function below to view the report recommendation for your route, a map of your current route and any proposed new or changed routes nearby.
It's important you read the recommendations in conjunction with the map provided.
Recommendations
The analysis found that:
- Two thirds of bus routes share more than 70% of stops with other routes
- Just 14% of total routes carry 57% of passengers
- 49% of existing routes carry an average load of 7 passengers or less
The report recommends that we:
- Grow patronage by expanding the frequent network and simplifying it. Passenger participation continued to highlight the importance of frequent services. The report recommends expanding the frequent network to the Gold Coast and to within 800 metres of 100,000 more people in Brisbane.
- Help contain costs by integrating the bus network with other modes and focussing the frequent network in the hours most travel occurs, between 7am and 7pm, 7 days per week. In locations where demand warrants higher frequency outside these hours, this will also be delivered.
- Manage infrastructure constraints by allowing less near empty buses into the CBD. This will help maximise the efficiency of existing infrastructure like Cultural Centre busway station.
What happens next?
We still have a lot of work to do as we implement this plan. We need to ensure that as we prepare detailed timetables for new routes, we get the span of hours right, stop at the most important stops, connect at the right times to train services and deliver the right frequency in the right places. We will do that work by liaising with passengers in each local area as we progress through implementation.
Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the SEQ Network Review report. We received over 10,000 responses to our third phase of passenger participation. Over the coming weeks we'll analysis this feedback and publish a summary of any additional changes to the new network.
For customers wishing to comment on Brisbane City Council's proposed changes to Brisbane Transport's network, they will be able to do so from 22 April via Council's website.
Changes to bus services will be implemented in a staged approach throughout South East Queensland and no changes will be made without further communication with customers in each local area. There will be no changes to bus routes in the Brisbane City Council area without full support of the Brisbane City Council.
We'll also continue to keep you updated about this project through this website and TransLink staff on the network.

State Government funded NightLink services are not included in the review.
Following customer feedback, we've updated a number of maps and recommendations to make them clearer. Updated maps are clearly marked with a 'V2' in the top right.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Moderate | Low | Route 10 is being removed and replaced by 3 routes. There will also be changes to the timetable to improve reliability. | Route 10 map (PNG) |
| 100 | Moderate | Very High | This route will no longer be included in the frequent network. Passengers looking for a fast and reliable trip to the CBD can transfer from frequent route #25 FOREST LAKE TO MT OMMANEY to frequent rail services at Oxley. Route #502 FOREST LAKE TO CITY will operate at a reduced frequency on the same alignment as current route 100 allowing passengers access to the PA Hospital and Mater Hill. | Route 100 map (PNG) |
| 101 | Moderate | Low | This route will be replaced by two services: #503 INALA TO MOUNT OMMANEY and #502 FOREST LAKE TO CITY. In addition a new frequent service (#25 FOREST LAKE TO MT OMMANEY) will operate on some of the current route 101 alignment between Seventeen Mile Rocks and Inala providing frequent connections to Mt Ommaney, rail at Oxley, Inala and Forest Lake. Passengers in Doolandella can access Inala and Mt Ommaney whilst passengers in Durack can still access Inala, Forest Lake and Brisbane. Oxley Road between Oxley and Corinda will only have access to a bus service in peak periods due to the close proximity of the rail line (stations are less than 1km away). | Route 101 map (PNG) |
| 102 | Moderate | Low | This route will be replaced by two new services: #503 INALA TO MOUNT OMMANEY and #504 INALA TO MOUNT OMMANEY. Passengers in Durack west of Oxley Road can still access Inala and Mount Ommaney. | 103 | Moderate | Low | This route will be replaced by two new services: #503 INALA TO MOUNT OMMANEY and #504 INALA TO MOUNT OMMANEY.All existing passengers will still be able to access Inala and Mt Ommaney with these services. | Route 103 map (PNG) |
| 104 | Low | Low | This route will be removed. The coverage of this route will be replaced by a combination of the new secondary route #501 INDOOROOPILLY TO GARDEN CITY and the extension to Yeronga of frequent route #4 NEW FARM TO YERONGA. Oxley Road at Seventeen Mile Rocks and Sherwood will only have access to bus services in peak periods due to proximity to rail line (stations are less than 1km away). Park Road at Annerley is no longer provided a service as this area is well serviced by rail. It is recommended that in the future as the demand for public transport increases in the areas where this service operates that a demand responsive transport system be considered as the first step to reintroducing access to the public transport network. | Route 104 map (PNG) |
| 105 | Low | Low | This route will be replaced by a combination of the new secondary route #501 INDOOROOPILLY TO GARDEN CITY and the extension of frequent route #4 NEW FARM TO YERONGA. Passengers who currently catch this service from Hyde Road and Brisbane Corso may walk 400m to the new frequent route #4 NEW FARM TO YERONGA on Kadumba Street. | Route 105 map (PNG) |

Where capacity is required only between Eight Mile Plains and the CBD some route #20 journeys may operate only between Eight Mile Plains and the CBD whilst still maintaining 15 minute frequency between Loganholme and the CBD. | Route 111 map (PNG) |
| 112 | Moderate | Low | This route will be replaced by a combination of two new secondary services which provides coverage within walking distance of almost the entire route. The connection between Griffith University campus and busway station and Tarragindi and Annerley is maintained with routes #404 GARDEN CITY TO UQ and #406 GARDEN CITY TO CITY. Although some streets in Tarragindi no longer receive a bus service due to the re-allocation of resources these streets are within 400m of a service.
