Link your go card and your CityCycle account

If you are a registered go card user, it's now easier than ever to access CityCycle. go card is now your one card access to TransLink's public transport network and Brisbane City Council's public bike share scheme - CityCycle.

To use your go card to access CityCycle, simply link your go card to your CityCycle account by following these steps:

  1. Visit citycycle.com.au and sign up to a long-term subscription (3 months or more) and select the TransLink go card option. (If you already have a CityCycle subscription call the CityCycle HOTLINE on 1300 CCYCLE (1300 229 253) between 8.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday to request a link number for your go card.)
  2. After subscribing, you will receive a subscriber number, association code and 4-digit PIN via email.
  3. Visit any CityCycle station, scan your go card and follow the prompts to link your go card to your CityCycle account. You will need to enter your subscriber number, link number and PIN (you only need to use your link and subscription numbers once).

You can now use your go card to start riding - don't forget to grab a helmet!

I only want a daily or weekly subscription. Can I use my go card?

No. go card can only be used when linked to a long-term CityCycle subscription (3 months or more).

Why is my go card not working to hire a CityCycle bike?

Only CityCycle subscribers who have linked their go card to their CityCycle subscription can hire a bike with their go card.

Have you linked your go card to your CityCycle subscription?

Only CityCycle subscribers who have linked their go card to their CityCycle account can hire a bike with their go card.

Have you associated your go card at a CityCycle station?

Once you have linked your go card to your CityCycle subscription, visit any CityCycle station and follow the prompts using your subscriber number, link number and 4-digit PIN.

If you still cannot use your go card, please contact the CityCycle HOTLINE on 1300 CCYCLE (1300 229 253) between 8:30am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, or online.

I have a CityCycle Classic card. Can I link my CityCycle subscription to my go card?

Yes. Call the CityCycle HOTLINE on 1300 CCYCLE (1300 229 253) between 8:30am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday to request a link number for your go card.

Can I use my go card to use CityCycle without separately subscribing to CityCycle?

No. You will need to link your go card to CityCycle by following the instructions at the top of the page.

Do I have to register my go card in order to use it the CityCycle service?

You can use any valid go card to access CityCycle. go cards must only be used by the authorised user or cardholder if no authorised user is nominated.

Having your go card registered protects your travel balance as soon as you report your lost or stolen go card to TransLink.

I have topped up my go card. Why can't I hire a CityCycle?

CityCycle and TransLink's go card use separate billing systems. CityCycle does not access or use your go card credit. For more information on why your go card is not working to hire a CityCycle bike see "Why is my go card not working to hire a CityCycle bike?"

Do I have to "top up" my CityCycle subscription like a go card?

No. Your CityCycle subscription is linked to your valid credit card during the subscription process. Hire charges (if applicable) are debited from your credit card on a monthly basis. Your TransLink go card balance is not used to hire a CityCycle.

Do I have to "touch off" my go card from CityCycle after use?

No. You only need to swipe your go card and enter your PIN when hiring your bike. You do not need to swipe or touch off your go card when you return your bike to a CityCycle station.

What if I lose my go card or it is stolen?

Can I still use my subscription if I lose my go card?

Do you have a CityCycle Classic card linked to your CityCycle subscription?

Yes - you can use your CityCycle classic card in place of your lost go card. Contact the CityCycle HOTLINE on 1300 CCYCLE (1300 229 253) to report your lost linked go card.

No - you can purchase a new go card or CityCycle Express card at selected distribution points and re-link your new card to your CityCycle subscription by calling the CityCycle HOTLINE centre on 1300 CCYCLE (1300 229 253).

I'm under 17 and have a go card - can I use CityCycle?

Can I still use my go card on TransLink public transport services if my CityCycle subscription ends or is cancelled?

Yes. Your go card will continue to function as normal on the TransLink public transport network.

If you choose to resubscribe to CityCycle, you will need to link your go card to your new CityCycle subscription.

Can a person use my go card to hire a bike without my knowledge?

No. When setting up your CityCycle subscription you will be prompted to create a 4 digit PIN. You must enter your PIN at a CityCycle station, before you can hire a CityCycle.

A person cannot hire a CityCycle using your go card without your 4 digit PIN.

Do not share your PIN with anyone.

When I use my go card to hire a CityCycle, am I charged the same fees as bus, train or ferry travel?

No. TransLink go card fares on buses, trains and ferries are separate to CityCycle fees.

How do I know which charges are TransLink and which are associated with CityCycle?

TransLink go card charges and transactions are separate to CityCycle charges. All CityCycle charges will appear on your bank/credit card statement under "CityCycle JCDECAUX".

Do TransLink operators have access to all my personal information?

Information about your CityCycle account is not shared with TransLink staff and no information about your TransLink account is shared with CityCycle.

Can I use my CityCycle card for travel on the TransLink public transport network?

No. CityCycle Classic or Express cards can only be used to hire a CityCycle. All TransLink bus, train and ferry services are only accessible using your go card or by purchasing a ticket.
