What is the Maroochydore station?
The proposed Maroochydore station will provide:
- six bus bays (three on either side of Horton Parade)
- high quality bus shelters with seating and timetable information
- safety features including 24-hour security cameras and lighting
- secure bicycle storage
- convenient, safe pedestrian links to Sunshine Plaza, with provision for a pedestrian overpass in the future
- bus layover and driver facilities
- an integrated urban design including a public plaza that reflects the look and feel of the Sunshine Coast.
The Maroochydore station concept design is now available for viewing.

Why is it needed?
The Maroochydore station was identified as a priority during concept planning for the CoastConnect project to address the inefficient bus facility currently located within Sunshine Plaza.
The new station will address the safety and capacity constraints at the existing station and be built to TransLink's high safety and quality standards. It will incorporate feedback received during extensive community consultation as part of concept planning for the CoastConnect project.

What are the benefits?
The proposed Maroochydore station will help to:
- provide safe, high quality waiting facilities for customer comfort
- benefit the local Sunshine Coast community by providing better access for customers and improving timetable reliability for all buses servicing the area
- improve public transport efficiency and accommodate for growth in the area
- help reduce traffic congestion around the Sunshine Plaza precinct, the largest traffic generator on the Sunshine Coast
- encourage more people to use public transport for most of their journey to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions: 1 full bus = 40 fewer cars.
TransLink is funding the bus station through the $48 million TransLink Station Upgrade Program (TSUP). The Sunshine Coast Council has committed a further $2.5 million for a high quality streetscape. This will continue the theme in Cornmeal Creek Promenade, build on the existing pedestrian networks and enhance the area.
How will this affect me?
Services
There may be some disruption to services during construction, however there are no planned changes at this stage.
We will always let customers know well in advance about any changes through this website and advertising in local papers.
TransLink will review all services prior to the opening of the new station.
Once the new station is completed, the existing station within Sunshine Plaza will be closed and all services will run from the new station.
Traffic
At the time of eventual construction, signage and traffic controllers will direct road users around the works as required. We aim to keep disruptions to a minimum where possible.
Construction
During the eventual construction, some noise and dust can be expected. Thank you in advance for your patience.
