Construction of further stages of the busway to Camp Hill, Carina, Carindale, Chandler and Capalaba are subject to funding.
The State Government has made a submission to Infrastructure Australia seeking federal government funding for:
- the next stage of the Eastern Busway from Main Avenue to Bennetts Road in Coorparoo
- a transit lane solution between Scrub Road, Carindale and Tilley Road, Chandler.
The State Government has actively sought to revitalise the Coorparoo business area which resulted in the opening of the Coorparoo Markets on the corner of Old Cleveland Road and Cavendish Road in late 2010.
Expression of interest for Transit Oriented Development (TOD)
Expressions of Interest to develop the Coorparoo Junction Transit Oriented Development (TOD) closed on 18 March 2011.
The Queensland Government sought expressions of interest from experienced construction, design and development organisations to partner with the state to deliver the Coorparoo Junction TOD project.
A total of seven expressions of interest were received from the development industry. Honourable Paul Lucas, Deputy Premier, Attorney-General, Minister for Local Government and Special Minister of State confirmed on 14 July 2011 that three proponents have been shortlisted to proceed to the next stage of the procurement process. The three shortlisted proponents for the design competition are:
- Australand Holdings Ltd
- Honeycombes Property Group Pty Ltd
- Leighton Properties (Brisbane) Pty Ltd.
Design competition
The Queensland Government is now commencing the design competition, which is stage 2 of the procurement process, to select a preferred proponent to partner with the state to design and deliver the Coorparoo Junction TOD.
The design competition will provide an opportunity for the three shortlisted proponents to demonstrate their vision for a TOD at Coorparoo Junction and provide design proposals to the Queensland Government for consideration.
