What is the Browns Plains bus station upgrade project?
The Browns Plains bus station upgrade involves enhancing the existing station facility located within the Grand Plaza Shopping Centre, as well as proposing four new indented on-road bus stops along Browns Plains Road.
The upgraded bus station and proposed new stops will increase capacity for the local area and significantly improve travel time and reliability by providing an efficient, safe and comfortable facility. The upgraded station will also provide a more accessible facility with bicycle storage facilities and a designated kiss 'n' ride area for dropping off and picking up passengers.

Why is it needed?
TransLink has identified the need to upgrade the existing station to ensure future capacity requirements are addressed, efficiency and reliability of services is improved and commuter facilities are enhanced to provide a safe and comfortable trip.
What are the benefits?
Planning for the station upgrade will propose the following improvements:
- improved station layout to allow for efficient bus operations and more space for waiting passengers
- four new indented on-road bus stops along Browns Plains Road in front of the existing bus station and shopping centre carpark
- fully sheltered passenger waiting platforms with comfortable seating, security cameras and lighting
- enhanced functional layout to allow for convenient bus operating and accessibility
- better pedestrian and cyclist connectivity between the bus station, the shopping centre and Browns Plains Rd
- compliance with disability access standards
- modern architectural styling, pavement replacements and landscaping improvements
- bicycle storage facilities
- a designated kiss 'n' ride area to drop-off and pick-up passengers
- new driver amenities and additional layover bays for out-of-service buses.
How will this affect me?
Services
The bus station is already well serviced by existing city-bound and local services. It is likely that there will be some changes to where buses pick up and drop off passengers when the station is complete. These changes will take advantage of the new layout, providing a more efficient bus service for customers.
We will advise you in advance of these changes through notices in the local paper, at bus stops and on the TransLink website.
Traffic and construction
We will try to keep disruptions to a minimum and will have signage and traffic controllers to direct road users around construction works as required.
