What is the Right to Information?
The Right to Information (RTI) is the Queensland Government's approach to giving the community greater access to information.
New legislation to replace the Freedom of Information Act 1992 came into effect on 1 July 2009, namely:
The Right to Information reform aims to make more information available, provide equal access to information across all sectors of the community, and provide appropriate protection for individuals' privacy.

How do I access information?
We provide open and transparent access to information about our services and activities.
This website contains publications and pages detailing our services and business operations. You can access this information from:
- publication scheme - for information routinely made available to the public, including our profile, priorities, decisions, policies, registers and lists, and corporate publications
- disclosure log - non-personal information that we think has a wider public interest and that has been released through the RTI legal process.
Contact us if you can't find the information/service you are looking for. We will determine if we can release the information through our Administrative Access Scheme, or we'll advise you if you need to make a formal RTI application under The Right to Information Act 2009.
Administrative Access Scheme
The Administrative Access Scheme allows you to access certain information held by us without the need to apply through the Right to Information or Information Privacy application process.
This scheme may be used to access:
- certain types of non-personal information
- details about your personal information (as defined in the Information Privacy Act 2009) - but not the personal information of another individual unless consent has been provided or is authorised under law.
There are no fees or charges to make a request under TransLink's Administrative Access Scheme. However, we may charge a fee to reproduce or provide access to large volumes of information.
You can submit your request by email, fax or post.
In your request, please tell us that you are seeking information under the Administrative Access Scheme. Provide your name and contact details. Provide sufficient detail to enable us to provide the specific information you require.
If you are dissatisfied with our decision, you may lodge a complaint to TransLink.

RTI application process
You can submit an RTI application by email, fax or post.
To complete an RTI application:
- RTI Application Form (PDF, 66KB)
- prepare a written application.
All RTI applications must:
- be in writing
- provide an address so that we can notify you of the decision
- provide sufficient information to identify the documents requested
- specify the date range you want us to search within, for example, August 2007 to September 2008
- include your application fee if the information you request is not related to your personal affairs.
An application fee of $38 applies if the information you request is not related to your personal affairs. This fee must be paid before your application is processed. You may also be charged for processing the application and for making copies of documents.
