Rugby union fans can travel free with TransLink to this Saturday night's (9 June) rugby game when the Wallabies take on Wales at Suncorp Stadium.
TransLink CEO Neil Scales said that pre-purchased ticket holders could enjoy the free travel from midday Saturday until the last services Saturday night.
"Utilising public transport to move to and from Suncorp Stadium is the best way to ensure you don't miss any of the action at these big games. Suncorp Stadium is well serviced by train and shuttle bus services with Roma Street and Milton train station only a short walk away," Mr Scales said.
Event shuttle buses will run from Adelaide Street and Markerston Street in the Brisbane CBD, Eight Mile Plains busway station, Carindale bus interchange, Chermside bus interchange and Waterworks Road, The Gap to Suncorp Stadium starting at 6.00pm on Saturday.
Return shuttle buses will run for up to one hour after the end of the games, departing from under the Southern Plaza and Given Terrace to the same destinations.
Mr Scales said customers should plan ahead and check their travel options using the journey planner on the TransLink website translink.com.au.
"We want all customers to have an enjoyable night at the rugby so to avoid the last minute rush, customers should plan ahead and arrive well before the game kicks off at 8.00pm on Saturday night," Mr Scales said.
Extra trains will be operating across the network this Saturday, with the Gold Coast Suns vs. Saint Kilda AFL game at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast on Saturday afternoon. Patrons attending the Caravan and Camping Show at the RNA Showgrounds across the weekend can travel free with Queensland Rail on the exhibition line train from Central, Roma and Fortitude Valley train stations.
Track works are scheduled between Bowen Hills, Gympie North and Shorncliffe stations on the Caboolture, Sunshine Coast and Shorncliffe lines across the weekend and buses will be replacing trains between these stations.
Customers should allow an extra hour when travelling between Bowen Hills, Gympie North and Shorncliffe stations this weekend.
