Buses will replace trains on the Caboolture, Sunshine Coast and Shorncliffe train lines this weekend for important upgrades to the northern train network.
The Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines will be closed between Bowen Hills and Gympie North stations on Saturday (9 June) and Sunday (10 June). The Shorncliffe line will also be closed between Bowen Hills and Shorncliffe stations on Saturday (9 June) and Sunday (10 June).
Customers for the Airport and Doomben lines should stay on the train beyond Bowen Hills station with these lines operating between Bowen Hills and Eagle Junction stations. The Ferny Grove line is not affected.
TransLink spokesperson Gemma Rivers said customers on the Caboolture, Sunshine Coast and Shorncliffe lines should allow an extra 60 minutes for travel and plan their journey with this closure in mind.
Enhancement works will be undertaken at Narangba, Northgate, Sandgate, Lawnton and Strathpine.
Customers with a disability should phone 3606 5555 or SMS 0428 774 636 for assistance.
The South Pine Road level crossing will also be closed to all road and pedestrian traffic. Detour via the Kremzow Road overpass or Mott Street underpass on Saturday and Sunday.
People attending the following events should plan their travel with these track closures in mind:
- the Caravan and Camping Show at the RNA Showgrounds - all weekend
- the Caboolture Show - all weekend
- Stradbroke Day at Doomben Racecourse - Saturday afternoon
- Australia vs Wales rugby test match at Suncorp Stadium - Saturday night.
A shuttle bus will run between Caboolture train station and Caboolture Showgrounds for the Caboolture Show every 30 minutes from 8.45am to 10.20pm Saturday and 9.10am to 3.50pm Sunday. This is not a TransLink bus service so customers should contact the Caboolture Show Society for more information.
Customers should note that Narangba train station will be completely closed on Saturday and Sunday. People starting their journey at Narangba station using go card can travel free to their destination. Customers travelling to Narangba with go card will not be able to touch off at the end of their trip and should contact TransLink on 13 12 30 to request an adjustment.
Train services will resume using a Sunday timetable on Monday 11 June, due to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee public holiday. Regular weekday timetable trains will resume on all lines on Tuesday 12 June.
