TransLink is giving football fans one more reason to roar with free travel to the A-League Grand Final between Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday afternoon (22 April).
Free travel will also be available for fans travelling to the Super Rugby match between Queensland Reds and Stormers at Suncorp Stadium on Friday (20 April) and the AFL Q-Clash between Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast Suns at The Gabba on Saturday night (21 April).
TransLink CEO Neil Scales said on match day fans could use their pre-purchased event ticket to travel free on Queensland Rail trains and Brisbane Transport buses.
"To ease traffic congestion around the stadiums, free travel will be made available for customers before and after the games," Mr Scales said.
"Customers can also travel free on event shuttle buses which will be running at regular intervals prior to the game and up to one hour after it finishes."
Event shuttle buses will depart from Adelaide Street and Makerston Street in Brisbane City, Eight Mile Plains busway station, Carindale bus interchange, Chermside bus interchange and Waterworks Road in The Gap, for the games at Suncorp Stadium.
For the games at The Gabba, event shuttles depart from Roma Street and Adelaide Street in Brisbane City, Eight Mile Plains busway station and Carindale and Chermside bus interchanges.
Mr Scales said both stadiums were well serviced by public transport.
"Public transport makes it easy to get to home games at Suncorp Stadium and The Gabba as both stadiums are close to major train and busway stations," Mr Scales said.
"Before travelling, I would encourage customers to use the TransLink journey planner and have their plans sorted before they leave home.
"Customers planning to stay out after the games finish should check when the last services to their home are due to depart, so they are not left in the city late at night."
