Rugby league fans can travel free with TransLink to this Friday night's (30 March) NRL game between the Brisbane Broncos and St George-Illawarra Dragons at Suncorp Stadium.

Free travel will also be made available to fans travelling to Saturday (31 March) afternoon's A-League Semi-final between the Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners, also at Suncorp Stadium.

TransLink spokesperson Andrew Berkman said fans with pre-purchased tickets or membership cards could travel free to the games on Queensland Rail trains, Brisbane Transport buses and shuttle buses.

"Public transport is the best way to get to big games and events at Suncorp Stadium, as you avoid all the hassles with peak-hour traffic and finding a park," Mr Berkman said.

"The stadium is well serviced by train and shuttle bus services with Roma Street and Milton train station only a short walk away.

"On average, more than 80 per cent of customers use public transport for travel to Broncos home games at Suncorp Stadium."

Regular event shuttle buses will run from Adelaide Street and Makerston Street in the Brisbane CBD, Carindale bus interchange, Eight Mile Plains' busway station, Chermside bus interchange and Waterworks Road, The Gap to Suncorp Stadium starting at 5.30pm on Friday. For Saturday's game shuttle buses will start from 2.30pm.

Return shuttle buses will run for up to one hour after the end of the games, departing from under the Southern Plaza and Given Terrace to the same destinations.

Mr Berkman said customers should plan ahead and check their travel options using the journey planner on the TransLink website translink.com.au

"To avoid the last minute rush, customers should plan ahead and arrive well before the games kickoff at 7.30pm on Friday night and at 4.30pm on Saturday afternoon," Mr Berkman said.

Track works are scheduled on the Shorncliffe line between Northgate and Shorncliffe across the weekend and buses will be replacing trains between these stations.

Customers should allow an extra hour when travelling between Northgate and Shorncliffe this weekend.
